"The scent of chords"
© Giovanni Bietti
By and with Giovanni Bietti , composer, pianist and music popularizer.
The colours and scents of the Giardino dei Ciucioi will frame the concert performed at the piano and commented by the eclectic Giovanni Bietti. The evening will be enlivened by a convivial and auspicious toast with aromatic Traminer wine and a fresh drink of elderberry flowers and citrus juice matured in the Ciucioi garden. Making a concert that evokes wine is therefore particularly interesting, also because it is possible to explore the relationship between the two sensory worlds in the most varied directions. In fact, several composers have written real "homages to wine": compositions that evoke the harvest, or the inebriation, or conviviality. The operatic toast repertoire is without a doubt the best known in this category (just think of "Libiam in happy glasses" from Verdi’s Traviata); but many musicians like Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, and after them Brahms and others, until at least Béla Bartok, they also wrote some small and delicious chamber music for wine. Convivial toasts, Trinklieder, Canoni scherzosi, Canti goliardici, from drawing room or even from tavern, recur in the "light" production of these musicians testifying their convivial spirit, the habit of savoring material pleasures in addition to spiritual ones. Giovanni Bietti: is considered one of the best Italian music popularizers, is composer, pianist and musicologist. He collaborates with the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and regularly holds conferences in the form of a popular concert at many of the most prestigious Italian contexts, such as the Teatro La Scala, the Festival MITO settembremusica, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, the Chamber Orchestra in Mantua, the Festivaletteratura in the same city, the Teatro Regio in Parma, the Sferisterio in Macerata, the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona, the Teatro Olimpico of Vicenza, the Mittelfest of Cividale, the Sicilian Symphony Orchestra of Palermo, the Ravello Festival. He is the curator of the popular "Music Lessons", the great initiative of musical dissemination that airs weekly on Rai-Radiotre, and the cycle of the same name live that attracts thousands of people in the spaces of the Auditorium-Parco della Musica in Rome. His compositions have been performed, among others, at the Edinburgh International Festival, the Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Kuhmo International Festival in Finland, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome, by performers such as violinist Thomas Zehetmair and pianist Boris Berezovsky.
